Everything in life happens on a continuum.
When you observe it, it may appear discrete.
But in reality, nothing is truly discrete.
Take the flu as an example.
Some people talk about the flu as if you suddenly wake up sick one day.
But that’s not how it works—it happens on a continuum.
First of all, "flu" is just a label. There's a good chance we all use the same word to mean, "I don’t feel well."
Not feeling well exists on a spectrum. You can feel slightly unwell or extremely unwell.
That’s the theory.
What smart people do is forget for a moment that "the flu" exists and instead focus on how they actually feel. The key is recognizing where you are on the spectrum between feeling good and feeling bad.
