Why Stochastics Is Useless

You can’t think outside of the possibilities you made up yourself.

Let’s say it’s heads or tails. In theory, this is 50/50.

In practice, the Earth could get hit by a meteor. Then it’s neither heads nor tails. So it’s not necessarily heads or tails—something completely different can happen.

The problem is that you are already thinking within a limited set of possibilities. You put boundaries on reality (heads or tails), but all other things are possible too.

It’s like trying to determine what something is going to be beforehand, which is not possible. You don’t decide what something is going to be—that thing decides what it wants to be for itself.


The problem with stochastics is that it only takes into account the things you can think of beforehand—and not all other possibilities.

Flipping a coin is not a 50/50 chance.
There is also a chance that a meteor strikes, and that it won’t be heads or tails.
So every form of stochastics is always a guess on top of a guess—a fault on a fault.

And it’s not just 49.9999999% versus 49.999999% versus 0.000001% in the heads-or-tails scenario. There is another problem: it constantly changes.

So why bother?
You can still use stochastics for things that have little to do with real life, like casino games.
But you can’t apply the same rules to life, which is elegant.

Therefore, stochastics is descriptive. You can’t use it to calculate things.

If we can’t use stochastics, which language describes reality better?
My favorite one is body language and the art of moving.

What people tend to do is try to make everything positive.

For example, when anxiety arises, they try to think about something else.

This is wrong. You are just as much an anxious thought as you are a happy thought.

This perspective shift literally changes your life because you no longer have to fear certain thought patterns and feelings.
